At the invitation of MEP Rainer Wieland (EPP), LEWA’s apprentices visited the European Parliament in Strasbourg.Rainer Wieland was the top candidate on the EPP fraction’s list in Baden-Wurttemberg in the 2014 European elections. He has been a member of the European Parliament since 1997 and is now one of 14 vice presidents of the Parliament in the current legislative period. For many of processes in the pharmaceutical- and biotechnology, a comprehensive pilot study and process development is necessary. LEWA supports such pilot studies with chromatography plants from the EcoPrime series.

As in previous years, LEWA is holding the "Open training day" again this year. On Saturday, July 8th, 2017, students and their parents are invited to take a closer look at the apprentice workshop at LEWA from 10 am to 3 pm.
Last year, more than 300 interested people attended the "Open training day". Particularly popular were the different stations that invited to participate, like "the hot wire" or the milling of a gyro. Also this year there will be different stations, which allow a deeper insight to different professions trained at LEWA.

New testing facility for process pumps: High function density and high-quality equipment for innovative product developments.
At the beginning of the year, Lewa GmbH commissioned its newly designed process pump testing room. The previous testing facility was outdated, so it was completely refurbished and the technology was modernized.

Thyssengas GmbH transports up to 10 billion cubic meters of natural gas annually using an underground transport system that is 4,200 kilometers long. The Ochtrup location is the turnstile for the distribution of natural gas in Northwestern Germany. The mobile after-sales service makes it possible to eliminate 80 to 90 percent of faults on odorizing systems from Lewa without delay
The technically complex systems used for odorizing gas have to meter extremely small amounts of the strong-smelling odorant with the highest level of precision and cleanliness.
